Mission camps are a bold new innovation for North Carolina!

A mission camp is a place where missions volunteers have housing and meals at reasonable rates plus access to tools and supplies. The camp staff establishes many project options in a six-county area around the camp.

In 2008, NC Baptist Men and the Baptist State Convention jointly established the Red Springs Mission Camp in Robeson County, which has successfully served as a launch pad for hundreds of teams to minister in the area. Red Springs Mission Camp is not really a "camp." It's a former textile plant bigger than a Wal-Mart!

This year NCMO funds will get a similar camp established in Shelby and will also help volunteers do ministry and outreach in a wide area around the camp. Eddie Williams directed the establishing of the Red Springs camp last year. Now he is directing the construction of the Shelby camp, which is being built from "scratch" on a sprawling tract of land east of East Dixon Boulevard.
